I am a 2nd grade teacher in Boulder Valley who LOVES any and everything about running! I have been running since middle school when I joined the track team, thanks to the persuasion of my older brother, M. Since then, I knew this was not an ephemeral hobby...I knew I was in this for the long run. Literally.
My high school track and cross country careers were filled with PR's and participations in state meets and races. However, when the choice came to run in college, I decided this was not for me. I had put forth so much effort in those 6 years of middle and high school that I was a tad burnt out and wanted, instead, to run for myself. I struggled with some knee problems (and still do from time to time), but found some shoes that seemed to be just right for me and solved most of the issues.
While I have been running for pleasure since the time of my high school graduation, I have only been competitively racing for myself since the spring of 2006. 5K's, 10K's, 1/2 marathons, marathons, and one day ultra's are on my list. My running partner, co-worker, and good friend, E, is extremely similar to me in regards to training, running, and racing. We often comment how extraordinary the similarities are, yet also how grateful we are for just that. Overall, I set high expectations for myself, whether training or racing, and I don't let myself get away with too much. ;)
Currently, my extremely supportive husband, K, and I have been married for 7 years and have 2 dogs: one of which LOVES to run, but tore her ACL and is on restriction! Go figure!
