Gregg,

I hope that whatever you and your wife are worried about will come out OK. Keep us posted on your blog as you see fit. If you would want to e-mail me privately, my address is bvccollinsAThotmailDOTcom . I promise not to talk about politics. ;-)

Thanks for messaging me Gregg. It's kind of funny when I run. Everyone always thinks I cheated somehow. That's what I like about running--you can either do it or not. There's really no such thing as cheating. BTW, I'm the same guy that posted on your blog yesterday and today. I love hearing about big guys who run. Keep up the good work.

I really appreciate all the great feedback on the story I submitted. Runners have big hearts. All anyone has to do is read some of the stories in the lounge to discover that.

Tom and Amy,

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm so excited about discovering this site.

About my diabetes run. If we can pull it all together for January 5, it will be a local event, but I'd love for others reading this to get involved. One way you could do this is to get out and run that day. Get people to sponsor you for so much a mile. Earmark those donations to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and specify it for Run on One. That will be the name of our event. I will visit with our local chairperson to see if it's possible to get word out to all national chapters to be on the lookout for money donated in our name.

I encourage anyone that is affected by diabetes to get involved and make a difference. There are over 15 million diagnosed diabetics in the U.S. The numbers keep climbing. We must find a cure.

You can read my blog, Confessions of a Fat Runner, for periodic updates as well as information regarding diabetes.

Once again, thanks for having me and God bless you all!

Hi Gregg. Welcome to the Lounge. Your running story and commitment to running to raise money for diabetes research is amazing. I'd like to know more details about the event. Is it an organized public run that others could learn more about? If so, feel free to put a link on the Running Resources section of this site--that's what it's for. Good luck training for it. We'll look forward to following your progress and success with the run!

Welcome to the Lounge Greg! Congratulations on your accomplishments of your weightloss, running and fundraising! Growing up, my best friend had diabetes so I understand the challenges of managing the disease for a young person.
