I am glad you are taking a pro-active approach to your diabetes and weight. My dad has cancer and he's gotten very upset because some people have health issues they can reverse, but he can't just make a lifestyle change and reverse his cancer.

Best of luck, I look forward to supporting you any way I can! :)

Running is still new to me but I really am giving it the old collage try. I really do like it more then I thought I would I find myself dreaming about where I will run , how fast I will be able to run and for how long. But like I say it's going slow but at least I have not quit it's only been a month but I can keep moving for 45min to an hour 3 to 4 times a week when I can run I run and when I can't I walk.Well thanks for the words of encouragement you don't know , or perhaps you do , how it makes me feel just knowing that their are people who believe I can do this. It not only makes me want to do this but helps me believe in myself

Welcome Dodie! Welcome to running - be warned - it may not seem like it - but running is really addictive once you get into it. :} I can still remember my first few weeks running - it was the hardest thing I have ever done and one of the best things I have ever done.

Remember - there are no real rules to running. Don't make it harder than it is - just get out there and walk a little and run a little.

You may want to connect with MikeSansone - he is just starting too!

Thanks for the friend request. I so know where you are coming from and having to make that decision to get better. Although a life of running is not without its own challenges (like avoiding runner's knee or cars :-) ), I can say it is much better for me than a life avoiding impending heart attacks or cramped places my 400+ pounds could not go. Welcome to the site!

Hi Dodie, Welcome to the Lounge!

Many of us can empathize with your health and weight concerns and goals. I struggle with managing my weight too.

One focus we have at Runners' Lounge is beginning running. We'll be adding some useful articles and "getting started" tips in the next few weeks.

Please let us know how we can help you your goals. Stop by and visit Amy or me or any of us here at the Lounge if we can support your progress.

We're glad you're here!
