Where to begin? I'm a wife and mother of two girls (16 and 5). I am a full-time academic psychologist working in research. I love to be moving - mountain biking, hiking, gardening, playing with my very fuzzy dog, and most of all...running.
In the summer of 2006 the stars aligned and I met my two best running buddies, Jill and Jill. We talked about how we all wanted to be running and active but between kids, work, and all the other activities that kept us busy every day there seemed to be no time. So, we decided to start an early morning running group, the Pittsburgh Sole Sisters. We meet at 5AM and run for an hour or so. Nothing is off limits during these runs and it is amazing how good we feel both physically and emotionally on a day-to-day basis.
I have been fighting a foot/ankle problem since I ran the Marine Corps Marathon last fall. This was my first marathon and it was a life changing experience for me. I'm still working on the injury issues. I'm getting there, but it is frustrating!
Last year, I was the captain of a Relay for Life team that raised nearly $3000 for the American Cancer Society. Everyone working in my lab put the team together to honor a student who was working with us and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma at the beginning of her senior year. She fought hard and won! We decided to keep track of the number of laps we put in on the track during that 24 hours...it added up to 180 miles!!! I couldn't believe it!
