Hey Christy!

Hope your running is going well!  Since you added the “Getting Faster”
Connect With Me category to your profile, I thought I would mention a
few new resources we have added to the Lounge regarding that topic.

Tom has been creating a series of articles on the topic of getting faster and recently published some tips in the Getting Faster section on Understanding Speed Work, Interval Training, and Strides.   We also had many Loungers leave links to articles they created on getting faster that might be useful to you as well.

We
are always looking for great articles, tips and resources on getting
faster.  If you have any you have written or know of any that would be
good additions to the Lounge, please drop me a note.

Happy running!
Amy

Hi Christy,

Not sure if we already talked about this, but Runners' Lounge is pleased to donate a gift for Reese's Run.  We have in mind a copy of the book, Runner's Guide to the Meaning of Life, autographed by the author.

Amy and are so proud for all you're doing to coordinate the run.  Reese is precious.  Let us know how else we can help.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Christy,

Thanks for the note. I'm new to the whole "blog" thing and I have to snoop around before I decide if I would like to create one--so no, I don't have one.

I also don't have any secrets for my times and I don't think they are very fast! I guess that we are all most critical of ourselves...I do think that if I ever got serious about doing ANY speed work that I could drop my times.

Christy,

Hi.

I am glad to hear from you.  It seems that we have a lot in common.  You may contact me at anytime and I will give you my phone number if you want to talk.  Please talk to my daughter Ericka as she has lots of information.  I wish you both well and will put you in my prayers.

Thanks for your message.  I am glad Tom connected us!  Here is a link to my story that I posted about why I run: http://www.runnerslounge.com/awards/index.cfm?id=1&StoryID=68980e40-9fe7-4c17-9884-f9a56953d452  and here is a link to an interview they did with me: http://www.runnerslounge.com/awards/index.cfm?ID=6&StoryID=d93a2139-717f-497a-9945-6169ab0324f1

Have you ever been to the annual conference for kids with JRA and their parents, through the Arthritis Foundation? It will be in Texas in summer of 2009.  They are a valuable resource for children and families.  As Tom pointed out, my mom is on here too and can answer any questions you have related to some of the experiences as a parent (though I was much older when I was dx'ed-almost 13 years old), and I am more than happy to answer any arthritis related questions you may have (obviously I am not a doctor but have lots of firsthand experience).

I applaud your efforts to run your marathon and thank you for raising funds for the Arthritis Foundation.  You and your contributors and helping to find a cure for arthritis!

Just wondering.... which crazy sport?!  :)

You couldn't have meant running could you?  (just kidding!)

Hope things are going well...

Hi Christy.  Welcome to Runners' Lounge.

Very exciting you're running Disney in a few months.  First marathons are an experience of a lifetime.  With your half PR and consistent training, you'll do very well.

May I introduce you to Dinah and her daughter Ericka.  They are both runners, Loungers, and Ericka has quite a story about her accomplishments while living with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.  They would fully appreciate what it means for your daughter.

So glad you've joined the Lounge community.

Welcome to the Lounge!  It is so nice to meet you!

Catching up with you via your blog (which is great!) I see you have alot going on.  I hope your injury (is it PF?) is doing better.  I know you must be so frustrated - and I know I have been there many times - but try to enjoy your few weeks "off" and find some cross training or other outlets.  Soon you will be running on schedule again.

I did Disney about 10 years ago and would love to go back some day.  It really is magical.

As for Canada runners, do you know any of some of my fav virtual runners like RunNat or Lily?   There are a ton of cool runners from Canada.
