Yeah, I was thinking about doing the half, but now I'm not. Still having some issues and guess I'm not back to my healthy self like I hoped...so I'm going to be smart and take it easy. I am totally bummed though, but don't want to risk it.

I love your "proving yourself" goal-oriented trick to get through long runs! I'm doing 20 this weekend, so I just might have to use it!

First, that is so exciting for your daughter. Cross country is a great sport. The kids have so much fun, even when working hard. I'm betting your daughter will enjoy it too.

I coached cross country for 8 seasons, but that's been a long time ago.

A good coach should be able to get a lot out of the young athletes. They'll probably follow the same principles we do of balancing long with short, some speed work when they get into the meets. The cool thing is kids can improve so much in a single season.

My best advice for you is to keep encouraging her to do her best and have fun and the success will follow.

My own kids also ran CC and it was fun getting to know their team mates and even their parents.

You couldn't ask for her to get into a better activity at school.

Her times will come down. Keep me posted on her progress.

Sorry I missed you. It's hard to find anybody at this race. I barely found Tom and Amy

Kent,

I saw you yesterday during the run - I was at about 2.5 and you were on the way back down a hill and looking great. Hope it went well!

Hi Kent. How did it go today at the Bix 7? Did you reach your goal time?

I was amazingly impressed with the race. It's now going to be one of my top races ever. I'll be back each year.

goal time? I am going with "live to see the next day". ;) I plan on runnning my slow speed with a little extra slowness. I hope to finish in less than 1:30.

I'll keep an eye out for you tomorrow. I see Amy filled you in on where I'll be hanging out. I will also be wearing bright yellow. Hope you have a great race!

Thanks again for the directions -

Here is where CoffeeBetsy will be hanging out - so I will try to do the same.

I will be
hanging out on Main Street before the start, near the Wells Fargo
building. That's where my office (and a nice bathroom in case of
emergency) is. Afterwards, I will be roaming between wherever they
are giving out popsicles and the big hill with the American flag.

We got there about a hour before the race, and found parking easy at the end of Brady St parking ramp, whose entrance was just behind the road closed sign. It's about 4 blocks from the start and the Expo, and easy to find. There may be closer spots, but it was good for us last year.
