Just a quick note to let you know we are talking about gearing up for summer running next week in the Lounge and would love your help!

I am reaching out to all the "southern" runners since you deal with hot weather running more often than some of the other runners in the Lounge.

I would love for you to join in on a podcast to give your tips on transitioning to summer running and running in the heat.  We are doing  a quick 30 minute round robin interview/call on Sunday, May 10 at 7:00 pm CST/8:00 EST.  I hope you can join us by simply calling:

Phone Number: (724) 444-7444
Call ID: 49826

It's as easy as a phone call and would be a great help to other runners.

And if you can't join us by phone, we would still love your tips.   If you have any past posts on the topic that you would like to share, please drop me a note and I would love to republish them in the Lounge with credit back to you in the Weather & Environment  or Hydration section.   Or you can leave tips in the section as well.

You can also leave your advice by taking part in Take It and Run Thursday and link to a post about summer running.

Thanks!

I hope you saw the update about the book this week.   I would encourage you to submit your story to HCI Books so they have a chance to review it.

And for the Lounge, I have added your article to the Inspiration and Stories section - here is the link:  http://www.runnerslounge.com/awards/index.cfm?id=8&StoryID=91f2f857-12ab-4d70-af56-bfaa3a72f5d6

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Hey Reid!

Hope your running is going well!  Since you added the “Getting Faster”
Connect With Me category to your profile, I thought I would mention a
few new resources we have added to the Lounge regarding that topic.

Tom has been creating a series of articles on the topic of getting faster and recently published some tips in the Getting Faster section on Understanding Speed Work, Interval Training, and Strides.   We also had many Loungers leave links to articles they created on getting faster that might be useful to you as well.

We
are always looking for great articles, tips and resources on getting
faster.  If you have any you have written or know of any that would be
good additions to the Lounge, please drop me a note.

Happy running!

Just a quick note to let you know that this week is "Boston and Beyond" week in the Lounge. I know that is one of your goals and wanted to let you know that our Take It and run Thursday topic is "secrets to qualify for boston".  I hope you have a chance to contribute what you have learned.

Hello everybody, this is my first message on the forum, I am currently training for the Edinburgh marathon, and am aiming for 3:30,  having done London and Berlin last year

Thanks for dropping off your advice for the "Surving the Holiday" forum.  All the tips have been compiled into an article in the Know How section, titled, "Running through the Holidays."

Because this is a hot topic this time of year, we are hosting a podcast on Tuesday (25th) at 8:45 CST for any Lounger to join in and talk about running through the holidays.  Hope to have you join!

Hi Reid,

sorry for the delayed response ... was at the MCM and NYC Marathon expo and finally returned home with a ton of work ...

to answer your question: if you go too deep, you might be sore the next day. I recommend going to the point of mild discomfort, and I would be v. surprised if you  would feel any soreness the next day. Then start experimenting w/ the Stick, going a little deeper one day and see how you feel the next day ... it's truly a learning experience.

If you have a chronic issue, frequency of usage of the Stick is key to recovery, for your muscles will tighten up again and limited blood supply will reach the area.

Best wishes and I hope this helps, Patrick
