I have been a runner for about 12 years. My running career was prompted in my mid 20’s when I found myself with extra pounds and piled up stress and needed some outlet for both. Through the years I have taken on running challenges that range from a marathon, half marathons, triathlons to fun runs. I have made every mistake imaginable related to running, sometimes twice. Some day I would like to try another marathon and venture into the world of ironman distance triathlons.

I juggle a job (Human Resources), two kids (8 and 4), my husband’s crazy work schedule (Deputy Sheriff), and great dog. I never seem to have enough time to fit it all in but never stop looking for the day when I will. Regardless of its priority on my schedule, running is important to me. It makes me a little stronger, smarter, saner, and allows me to indulge in chocolate chip cookies more freely.

This site was born because talking to runners, about runners and with runners is a favorite pastime, second only to actually running.

2007 was an unusual year. I hopped off my normal routine of races due to a busier schedule than normal. For the first part of the year, I struggled to find a rhythm of running since this is the first time I ran without a goal/race in mind. But my midyear I found that I love running "just to run". But, I couldn't give up the races, I have snuck in a 5K, sprint triathlon, and a duathlon. Somewhere in there, I grabbed a big injury to my back/hip/knee and have been working to recover for the last few months.

2008 is bringing new hope.

My goals:

Virtual 9 on 9th - Feb 9 - Complete
Red Flannel 5K - February 16 - Complete
Drake Relays 8K - April 26 - Complete
CaveMan Unite Virtual 10K on 10th - May 10th - Complete
Dam to Dam 25K - May 31 - Complete (ugh.)
Cyman Triathlon - August ??
Capital Pursuit - September 29
Des Moines Half Marathon - October 19th
Living History Farms - Nov (Sat before Thanksgiving)

Plus I would like to:

Run 2008 with no injuries
Be a stronger runner
Run two races - not in Iowa.
Get two people running
Be able to do a pull up
