In the past, I've run for fitness, as the cardio part of my workout routine. It was never consistent, and never more than a few miles.
In October of 2007, my wife (our "pre-date" was actually a run together) and I decided to try the Couch-to-5K program, and we signed up for our first timed race, the Arthritis Foundation's Jingle Bell Run.
A funny thing happened along the way--I started to enjoy running! I am now running 25-30 miles per week, and have worked my long runs up to 11 miles. I've also run a few more 5Ks (PR is 25:12, down from 31:15 at the Jingle Bell Run), and am registered for a couple of more (and my first half marathon!).
I registered for my first half marathon--the San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon, so starting in July, that will be what I am training for. Until then, I will continue building my base, and running 5Ks, and maybe a 10K or two.
Cowtown 5K - February 23, 2008 - 28:45
Jingle Bell Run 5K - December 1, 2007 - 31:25
I do not have any running logs yet.
