ran in the SLR socks this morning during a track workout. I didn't notice them at all during the run (a good thing I suppose) and my feet feel great post run! no chaffing in the area I normally get blisters...

My socks arrived just in time for tonight's run!

I tried the double-layer Coolmesh socks. The fit was great, and they're soft and comfortable. They felt much better than the C9 Target socks I've been running in.

The weather was pretty good today. I checked weather.com before my run - 75 degrees / 62% humidity. Well, it sure felt more humid than that, but still much better than the 87 degrees / 80% humidity I ran in earlier this week!

My feet felt great tonight. While I've been blister-free, I have had some callous problems lately that felt better tonight. Maybe my feet will actually improve as I prepare for my 10th half marathon? Ha ha.

I've blogged about sock test #1 here:

I tried the SLX because I found them the most good looking of all of the socks! They are great. So cozy! I didn't notice them - which is a good thing like runnermom said above, and no blisters! I always get blisters, but not with WrightSocks. I love these things!

I ran in the SLRs this morning and had a good experience with them. They were so comfortable, I hardly knew they were there. I'm looking forward to the next run now. These are some good socks.

I've yet to receive my socks (keeping my fingers crossed they'll arrive today), but I was wondering if anyone uses/used BodyGlide on their feet before putting them on. I normally do, however, I'm thinking I should forego the BodyGlide just to see how they perform. Fortunately I don't have a marathon planned as I would definitely be wearing the Glide!

You should DEFINITELY try them without the BodyGlide - they are awesome! It will be a great test!

No socks yet for me either. Enjoyed a nice long run in my C9s this morning, though.

Come on, Monday!

I ran in the Running IIs this morning. I did not love them. They were too hot, and I was afraid they were giving me blisters. No blisters emerged, but they still rubbed me the wrong way. Read all about it.

I ran in the Running II today at the beach in the hot humidity. Normally my feet swell and I get blisters all the time when I run at the beach. My toes usually hurt by mid-run but these were great - i didn't feel anything and had a great run!

For my second test, I ran in the SLT today. I'm on vacation at the beach, and woke up early to get a 10-mile run in. It was already 80 degrees / 84% humidity at 7 a.m. At least there was a nice breeze for most of it.

I did have some minor foot issues, but I can't entirely blame the socks. I was wearing old orthotics, had pre-existing callouses, running long, and dealing with that heat/humidity.

I still liked them, but maybe not as much as the CoolMesh. I'll have to try a double-layer pair on my next long run!

My First Review
08/11/09 7:51 AM

Since receiving my bundle of socks in the mail last week I've been able to wear my Wrightsock socks on three runs. I opted not to wear them for my race on Saturday. That was a little too risky for me since I wore my first pair on Friday and had 5 other pair that hadn't been washed or worn yet.

My initial choice for a 2 mile run was the Coolmesh Quarter sock, a double layer and very thin sock. I was pretty skeptical of the double layer socks from the start. I just couldn't imagine how a double layer sock would be comfortable. I envisioned my foot slipping around inside my shoe with each stride. I wore these without first washing them. They were a bit loose and my feet did slip around the entire time inside my shoes. I did not like that one bit. I have been very fortunate in my past two years of running to not have had any blisters on my feet from any of my runs, whether they were short (2 miles) or long (20 miles) runs or whether it was a rainy summer day with wet feet or cold winter day with cold feet. But, my biggest worry while wearing this sock was that I was going to get a blister from the friction of my feet slipping around. After washing the Coolmesh Quarter sock and slipping them on my feet again I noticed that there was some shrinkage and now they fit my feet perfectly. I will give this sock another shot to determine whether or not the slipping around was due to the double layer or my not washing them.

At this point, all six pair of socks are washed, so my initial issue with the socks fitting a little big has been resolved. I washed all the socks in cold water and dried them with no heat. They all shrank slightly.

Next, I wore the SLT single layer sock on a 5.5 mile run. This is the thinnest of the single layer socks. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I have two sock wardrobes just like I have two running wardrobes. I have my winter socks and my summer socks. Winter socks are thick and summer socks are thin. I was really excited to give the SLT sock a try. They are very comfortable, I did not even notice them on my run unlike the Coolmesh which I noticed the entire time. Half way through my run I realized that I had not even given the sock a thought and tried to focus on how they felt while I was running: comfortable, my feet weren't sweating so they were wicking well, no rubbing. Then it began to rain and my feet were soaking wet as I had no choice but to run through several puddles. This was an excellent test and the SLT held up exceptionally well. I am extremely happy with this sock and from here on in will consider it a permanent member of my summer sock wardrobe. The SLR is very similar to my SmartWool Ultra Light Micro summer running socks, very thin all around and unnoticeable while running.

Finally, this morning I wore the SLX single layer sock on a 6 mile run. This is very comparable to the LL Bean CoolMax socks that I have been wearing. I typically like to wear them in winter but will wear them in a pinch on a summer run when my other summer socks are all in the laundry. This is because they are, in my mind, a mid-weight sock. The SLX is padded on the bottom and thin on the top, unlike the LL Bean CoolMax which are padded all around. I really liked the SLX, I figured I would but wasn't sure if they'd make the cut for summer running. In fact, they do make the cut. They wick well, they are comfortable and I like the thinness of the sock on the top of the foot.

Wouldn't you know it -- the socks came on a planned rest day! However, I'm going to try a pair out this afternoon on an 8-miler. I'm also trying out new trail shoes, so I may wear one pair with those shoes for 5 miles, then change into a different pair to wear with my regular running shoes for the final 3 miles.

I've already tried out the SLX and SLTs! I am really excited to run an 15miler this weekend in the SLX. They were cushy, but wrapped well around my feet. I liked how the midfoot is snug!! There were no loose spots, which I thought was awesome. They reminded me a lot of the Smartwool PhD socks, only thinner (not cheap, though. built just as well, just lighter).

The SLTs were a little thin for the shoes I was wearing at last night's intervals on the track (Brooks Trance). The socks are supposed to be for people who love the feel of their shoes. I don't think that my shoes are fitted well enough to my foot. I didn't really like how much my foot moved around in my shoe with these socks. That being said, I bet if I wore marathon flats, they'd be clutch! I could also see them being really sweet as transition socks in a triathlon. Easy to put on (they are silky smooth).

I have posted four days of reviews at www.milanorunningmom.blogspot.com
Just a quick note: so far so good except for the SLT. Not enough sock for me, but I tried them at the track. I will try them again on a different run.

I tried out the Cushioned DLXs and the SLTs last night. You can see the full review at http://eatdrinkrunwoman.com/?p=364, but I agree with milanorunner -- the SLTs were a bit TOO thin. Given I was also trying out some new trail running shoes (which were quite heavy), my feet got pretty hot with the DLXs. However, I think they'll be great winter socks.

Tomorrow I'll be doing a 20-mile run but am not sure which sock I'll chooose!

I'll pitch in when I receive my socks. They are probably caught up in customs.

Until then, I'm enjoying reading everyone's reviews....

I am excited to say that I just received my socks today. I am excited to try out my first pair on tomorrow's run. On first impression, the SLT looks like it will be most like what I enjoy running in - a thin sock that I hardly notice. That being said, it will be interesting to see how the heavier socks feel. I might just have to hit the trails this weekend to see how they work out!
