Start the new year on a fresh note! Join the Runners' Lounge & Penguin Brand's, "Get the Stink Out!" Challenge.

We're looking for 50 lucky runners to use Penguin Sport Wash on their smelliest, stinkiest, grimiest, sweatiest, crusty running clothes.

This will be a Runners' Lounge Product Challenge, and you will be asked to comment briefly on your experience using Sport Wash. Don't hold back.

To join in the fun and become eligible, just tell us how you take care of your running apparel. Or just confess how badly you need Sport Wash. Tell us about the seriousness of your stinky running gear. What does it compare to? In what awful ways have your family members described the odor?

The forum runs December 8 - 13. So do yourself—and everyone who lives around your running gear—a favor. Express your stinky running gear situation and become eligible!

I was a rower in college, and when I'd come home over Christmas and summer breaks, I'd trail run to keep my fitness level in check. Being back at home, my mom would do my laundry. One Christmas she claimed that washing my clothes several times just would not get the stink out, and that I was going to ruin the washing machine. She ended up getting Arm and Hammer laundry detergent just for my clothes.
It was the one and only thing she's used 2 detergents for, even thought I had a younger brother who was into everything!

Now that it's winter and snowy Chicago is forcing a majority of my runs indoors/treadmill-style, I'm really noticing the stink in my clothes. It's awful. Horrific really. I wash all my running clothes twice now, which isn't cheap since I live in an apt building with ridiculous rates for our washer/dryers. I, of course, never really noticed the smell during the summer when I was outdoors and could run away from any stink. But now that I'm forced to plod out the miles on the dreadmill, all I can think is that with each step the smell is only going to get worse.

I have to wash daily. I have a couple of tech shirts that they smell fine when they got out of the wash but once they begin to get moist the stink comes back 10fold!

My sarcastic wife has compared the smell of my stinky clothes to the odor you smell when driving by the dump

Oh how embarrassing to admit you smell... fine last week while I was running I noticed that the shirt which I had just washed..smelled. I think that the cold water wash I've been trying with the dryfit stuff is not working!

I have two favourite shirts - one is a plain white long sleeve Nike top. The other is a pink Under Armour long sleeve top. I've had the white Nike top for years and absolutely love it. I've noticed that even straight out of the dryer it smells now though! I am quickly losing my backup favourite UA top because the stink seems to come back as soon as I start moving. Here I thought the boys were looking at me as I ran the pathways, but that was only because they were trying to see where the stink was coming from!

Please! Help me salvage my two favourite running tops! (and my single dating life too...)

Ok, I've now tried like 5 times to think of a cute way to say it, but I'm so darned tired after my first marathon that the words won't come. So here's all I can say. Dri Fit clothes are great the first time you wear them. After that they never smell clean again. As a running wife and mom with a husband who runs and golfs, and two teenage boys who wrestle and play water polo, I have some serious fitness laundry woes. Help would be SO appreciated!!!

Oh! the humanity! A beautiful warm day and a great run, can't get much better than that. Of course smelling bad can ruin that perfect moment. I sat on my front porch after a rather lovely, but long, run. Stretching and enjoying the day. My second son came outside and sat with me. We were listening to the sound of the water in the water garden just off the porch when he suddenly announced that something had died in the water pond. "Can't you smell it?" he said. No, I mean I smell something, but I don't think it is a dead animal. He volunteers to go look while I go take my shower. Later he tells me he didn't find anything and that the smell had vanished when I went inside! I'm not saying he called me stinky, but what would you think?

Oh man, I am in mega-need of a stink remover. Not only do I sweat a lot (even in the cold), but I also sweat out A LOT of electrolytes, making for very salty running clothes. They get so crusty, they can stand up by themselves. I have an upside down "V" on all my sports bras from my boob sweat (sorry if that's TMI). A lot of my stuff comes from Target, which is reasonably priced, but not if I only get 2 or 3 uses out of it, due to the stank factor.

Now that I'm in training for a half-marathon next month, I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of laundry, and I would love to have fresh-smelling duds to get me through the process. Besides, I don't want to come in last place from everyone else running so fast to get away from my smell!

For real -- I need the stink remover! About a mile into a run, I can smell my clothes. Sometimes earlier. Sometimes I can smell their stink just getting dressed for a run! Ack! It's really that bad.

I often have to put my running clothes through two wash cycles to get some of the stink out, and I've tried a few different detergents to try to help. I think this stink remover would really help.

I recently started running and my two room mates have complained about the room smelling bad. I was really embarrassed when my running cothing turn up to the stench. I could really use this and my room mates would really enjoy a cleaner smelling room .

I have a terrible time getting the smell out of my sports bras. I sweat really badly, and after running for a 2 or 3 hours it turns into a distinct smell that my husband refers to as "that nasty marathon smell." He says it is the same smell every time I run a marathon. The only solution I have found is to just throw them away and buy new ones...and that is EXPENSIVE!!! I would LOVE to try a detergent that might possibly take the "nasty marathon smell" out!

My wife was a guest writer on my blog last month and I think that she wrote it best in this except from last month.

"Hubby informed me that he hadn't yet blogged today and asked me if I'd consider doing the daily deed as his guest blogger. Um, sure, here's his day as seen through my eyes.

He went running.

He came home 2 1/2 hours later.

He stunk.

Bad."

Between my husband and I, both runners, there seems to be a lingering smell of 'runner's stink' all over the house. No matter how often the clothes are washed, they still carry that smell.

I would love to try something that works!!

Let's see- my wife bought a separate hamper for my running/cycling clothes. When I carried to the laundry room the plants drooped, the dog passed out and my 16 year old was actually speechless. Everyone in my running group has gotten much faster because they are always running to get away from me. During the summer my wife actually makes me hose down in the yard to get the first layer of stench off (neighbors don't appreciate that much)...

I am tired of taking my running clothes to the river and beating the stink out on a rock (my wife won't let me ruin our new washer), please, please, please let me try the new stuff....

My clothes don't stink after a run, they smell as fresh as though they were just bought and washed anyway.

My wife seems to be deluded into thinking that they reek, though. She's always complaining that I smell like her father after a run, and apparently that's not a good thing. Her theory is that I only think that my clothes smell so great after I get done running because I have no sense of smell and can't tell the difference anyway.

While it's true that I have no sense of smell, I find it hard to believe that I could smell bad, or that my clothes might. However, if I had something like the penguin wash, I could make the Missus happy...

these are some great replies, but I do wonder, what do you do about that layer of salt. I thought I was the only one that got "crusty". Gross I know, but a reality.

Oh Lord Save Me!
Between my running and Bikram yoga, there is always at least 2 sports bras and 2 pairs of shorts hanging over my door at any given moment. And they stink to high heaven.
Which in turn, stinks up my room.

Once dry, they get thrown into the laundry pile where they stink up the closet and the rest of the laundry.

Unfortunately I don't have a washer and dryer so I must go to the laundry mat. By the time I make it there, my laundry basket has green fumes seeping out.

And my exboyfriend would say, "you're just a sweaty Betty."

My sweat soaks through 3-4 layers of clothes that I have been wearing this winter, and my sweat stinks. Alot. I keep my running clothes in a basket at the bottom of a closet, and if anyone has to open the closet to grab a coat or something, they have to hold their breath because the smell is so bad. This would be the greatest Christmas present to my wife, to de-stinkify my clothes.
