  1. Why should I sign up at the Runners Lounge.com?

Runners’ LoungeTM is a social running web site dedicated to runners and running communities. As a friendly on-line running lounge where runners gather, it’s your special meet-up place for runners to hang out, talk about running, exchange stories, advice and ideas, and form “runnerships,”

Runners’ LoungeTM is a community to help you more fully enjoy running!

Whether you are new to running or a veteran, training for a particular race, share a common injury or goal, or seeking runners from your community… Runners’ LoungeTM is for you!

 

  1. Will my personal information be kept private?

Yes. Runners’ LoungeTM adheres to the strictest practices regarding safeguarding your personal information. For all the information on privacy, please refer to our privacy policy.

 

  1. Is it using this site really FREE?

YES! www.runnerslounge.com provides the space for your personal running profile, for all the connection features with others, and for the site’s resources at no charge to you.

 

  1. What do I do if I can’t create an account?

Contact us info@runnerslounge.com and describe your problem.

 

  1. Where do I report inappropriate behavior?

Click on the Report Abuse link at the bottom of the page and complete the form. The submission to us will tell us the exact page location. Or you may contact us at info@runnerslounge.com.

 

  1. How much and what kind of email will I receive once I sign up?

There are three types of emails that may be sent to you:

    1. You will receive emails from Loungers who would like to connect with you as a Lounge Friend or your Lounge Group.
    2. If you choose to moderate comments on your profile, all comments will be sent to you by e-mail for review with a link to your profile in order to approve them.

If you choose to subscribe to any of the forums, any new posts will be sent to your e-mail address.

 

Profile Questions

 

  1. Why can’t I log into my profile?

When you first sign up, an activation e-mail message will be sent to the e-mail account you provided when you filled out the signup form. You must activate your account by going to the link provided in this e-mail before you can log in.

Please follow these steps to activate your account:

    1. Go to the e-mail account that you signed up with and check for an e-mail confirming.
    2. This e-mail contains an activation link. Please click on this link or copy and paste it into a web browser and hit Enter.
    3. Log in to get started building your free Runners’ LoungeTM profile.

If you do not receive the activation e-mail, please check your spam folder to see if your e-mail provider has mistakenly flagged the activation e-mail as spam.

  1. What kind of photos can be uploaded as the avatar on my profile or my Lounge Group(s)?

You can upload photos ending in .jpg only that are smaller than 256K. You must own the copyright to or have valid permission to use any photos you upload. Occasionally when uploading photos you might need to log out and log back in to complete the upload process. If you are having problems uploading photos, please send an e-mail to info@runnerslounge.com.

 

  1. I clicked on the “Connect with me” button on a Lounger’s profile, but they haven’t been added to my profile as a Lounge friend?

When you request to connect with another Lounger, you’ll need to wait for them to approve your request before you show up on their friends’ list (and vice versa). To manage your Lounge Friends, log into your profile and click on the “Manage” link in the “Lounge Friends section.

 

  1. How do I change my e-mail address?

Log in to Runners’ LoungeTM. Go to View My Profile and click on the Update link by your avatar. Your e-mail address is listed in the “Update My Profile” page. Just change and click on the Submit button.

 

  1. Can I promote my blog on my profile?

Yes, there is a space on your profile to list and link to your blog. It also has functionality for you to show your most recent feeds.

 

  1. What is My Media?

This section is where you can add and display media such as pictures from Flickr and YouTube uploads.

 

  1. What do I do with My Notebook?

Think of this section as your place to store your all-time “favorites” of anything. When you come across something you want to go back to—an article, a web site, a quote, a play list, some great advice—just store it in My Notebook. Over time you’re My Notebook becomes your treasure chest of the best you’ve written, read, or discovered about running.

In addition to your favorite on the web, My Notebook also stores any articles or advice you have marked in the Runners’ Lounge.

 

  1. How is the “My Know-How” section populated?

When you add advice in the Build-Use-Share Running Know-How, it automatically is added to your profile.

 

  1. What is the “My Widgets” section used for?

Post a badge, button or widget to your favorite running sites, a countdown meter to your upcoming race, or links to your profiles in other sites.

  1. How do I rate advice?

After you are logged into Runners’ Lounge, simply click on the number of stars you would like to vote. You can only cast one vote. If you change your mind on your vote, simply click again on the appropriate number of stars. Your previous vote will be replaced.

  1. How do I rate an article?

After you are logged into Runners’ Lounge, simply click on the number of stars you would like to vote. You can only cast one vote. If you change your mind on your vote, simply click again on the appropriate number of stars. Your previous vote will be replaced.

 

  1. How are the star ratings determined?

The ratings are the average of all those who rate an item such as a race or advice. Each person can vote only once to impact the overall calculated average.

 

  1. How do I edit my advice?

Access the piece of advice through the “My Know-How” section on your profile or through Build-Use-Share Running Know-How. When you are logged into Runners’ Lounge, you will see an Update link next to your advice. Click on the link and edit the advice as needed.

 

  1. What is “Ask the Lounge”?

Ask the Lounge is a forum where Loungers can ask questions of the Lounge for immediate conversation and feedback. Once you are logged in, you are able to participate in any forum listed.

 

Resources Questions

 

  1. How do I rate a resource?

Access the resource through the Running Resources or Running Events. When you are logged into Runners’ Lounge, you will see an Update link next to the Resource. Click on the link and edit the resource as needed. Anyone can add or edit any resource.

 

  1. Can I add a new event?

Yes! Please add any event to listing or edit existing information. Simply go to the Running Events section and click on Add an Event. Don’t forget to add feedback or link to your race story too.

 

  1. Do I have to be the race director to add an event?

No. Anyone can add any event. Once it is added, anyone can edit and add to the existing information as well as add stories, feedback and advice for that event.

  1. How can I promote Runners’ LoungeTM?

Go to the Pass it Along page on the Our Blog/About Us section for several ideas to spread the word about Runners’ LoungeTM, including:

  • Add a Runners’ LoungeTM badge to your website or blog.
  • Link to your profile from your website or blog. 


 

  1. How do I invite my friends to join Runners’ LoungeTM?

To tell others about Runners’ LoungeTM, Go to the Pass it Along page on the Our Blog/About Us section and click on the Send An E-mail To A Friend button, fill in the blanks, and your friends will be notified about the Runners’ LoungeTM community. They will receive only one email.

 

  1. How can I advertise at Runners’ LoungeTM runners?
